San Diego
- 500 gt and over must have a pilot

Long Beach
- 300 gt and over must have a pilot
- No exemption available
Los Angeles
- 300 gt and over must have a pilot
- No exemption available
Monterey
- Greater than 750 gt must have a pilot
- No exemption available
San Francisco
- Greater than 750 gt must have a pilot
- No exemption available
Columbia River Bar
- 250 gt and over OR length overall of 100 feet or longer must have a pilot
- No exemption available
Columbia River
- 250 gt and over OR length overall of 100 feet or longer must have a pilot
- No exemption available
Puget Sound
- All foreign flagged yachts of any size must have a pilot
- Exemption available if not more than 750 gt AND not more than 200 feet LOA
British Columbia
- Pleasure registry of 500 gt and under are automatically exempt
- Commercial registry of 350 gt and under are automatically exempt
- All others either have a pilot or waiver in place
SE Alaska
- 65 feet length overall and larger required to carry a pilot
- Exemption is available for those less than 175 feet length overall
